o [ou] — go [gou]

e [i:] — she [∫i]

u [ju] — student [‘stju:d∂nt]

i [ai] — five [faiv]

y [ai] — type [taip]

a [ǽ] — bag [bǽg]

o [o] — got [got]

e [e] — shelf [∫elf]

u [L] — stuff [stLf]

i [i] — filter [filt∂]

e+r [∂:] — her [h∂:(r)]

u+r [∂:] — purlin [‘p∂:(r)lin]

prefer [pri`f¶:]

divide [di`vaid]

ferocity [f¶’rositi]

doctor [`dokt¶(r)]

player [`plei¶(r)]

martyr [`ma:t¶]

sulphur [`sLlf¶]

Guy is a funny little monkey. He lives in a Zoo in Great Britain.

One morning Princess Elizabeth came to the Zoo. Guy looked at the Princess and thought that she was beautiful. He liked her very much. He wanted to show her his tricks and he said:”Please, look. This is my best trick.” Guy took a ball, put it on his head and jumped up and down, up and down, with the ball on his head.

Princess Elizabeth liked the trick.”What a clever monkey,’ she said. “What’s your name?” – “Guy.” “Hello, Guy, have my banana”. The little princess gave her banana to Guy. The banana was so tasty that Guy closed his eyes and said: “M-m-m.” He was very happy. When Guy opened his eyes, he couldn’t see the Princess. “Oh, dear,” he said. “Where is the Princess? I’d like to say “thank you” to her.” And Guy was very sad.
