THE CROCODILE AND THE MONKEY

Read the text

Once upon a time there lived a Monkey. He lived in a big tree near the river.

There were lots of crocodiles in this river. They liked to watch the Monkey, who played and jumped in the tree.

One day an old Mother Crocodile said to her son: “I want to eat that Monkey. Go and get him for me.”

“But I can’t do that,” said her son. “I can’t climb trees and the Monkey never comes down to the river.” “But you must try your best to get him for me,” said the old Mother Crocodile.

Suddenly the young Crocodile had an idea. He thought: “I shall ask the Monkey to go to the place where there is a lot of fruit. The Monkey likes fruit very much, and he will get down from the tree and go together with me.”

So the young Crocodile swam up to the tree where the Monkey lived and said: “Monkey, do you want to go to the place where there is a lot of fruit?” “How can I go?” said the Monkey “I cannot swim.” “I shall help you,” said the Crocodile. “Jump on my back.” The Monkey jumped on the Crocodile’s back.

The Crocodile said: “You, foolish Monkey! Now I shall get you to my mother and she will eat your heart.” “Oh, I’m sorry, but I don’t have my heart with me – it is at home,” said the Monkey. “Take me back home and I shall get my heart for your mother” The Crocodile swam back and the Monkey jumped up into the tree. She laughed loudly. So the young Crocodile swam back to his mother without the Monkey.

Some days passed. The Crocodile swam to the Monkey’s home and said: “I want to eat you!” “All right,” said the Monkey. “Open your mouth and I shall jump into it.” But when the Crocodile opens his mouth, he closes his eyes. The Monkey knew this. So, he opened his mouth and closed his eyes. And the Monkey quickly jumped on the Crocodile’s head and over to another tree. The Crocodile opened his eyes and saw the Monkey in another tree. He said: “You are a very clever monkey. After this I shall not try to get you.”

“Oh, it’s very kind of you,” said the Monkey, “but I shall my eyes open just the same.”

The Elephant and the Monkey

One day an elephant said to a monkey: «Look how big and strong I am! I can carry a very big tree. I am glad I am strong.»

«Look how quick I am! I can run quickly, and I can climb a tree very quickly!» said the monkey. «And I am glad I am quick.»

But which is better: a strong animal or a quick animal? They did not know. They argued, and each of them thought he was better.

Then the monkey had an idea. «The old owl is very clever. Let’s go to her and ask her about it.»

They went to the old owl, and the elephant said, «The monkey is quick, but I am strong. Which is better?»

The owl said, «Do you see that big tree? There is a nut on it. Who can bring it here? Go and pick the nut and bring it to me.»

«I can climb the tree,» said the monkey and went up the tree. Then the monkey picked the nut. The elephant put the nut in his mouth. Then they swam back to the owl and gave her the nut.

«Now Mrs. Owl, which is better: a strong animal or a quick animal?»

«Both are good,» said the owl. «But you could not do alone what you

did together.»

“Nice to see you”, says Mr Wigg but the children can’t see him.

«Hello, Mary”, says Mr Wigg, “I’m very sorry, but it is my birthday.”

Yak

In the big mountains there lives a yak (як). He can see white snow, cold ice and short grass near him. There are no shops, no ice cream and no children in the mountains. He is very sad.

One day a bird comes to him and tells him about the blue sea, happy children and tasty ice-cream. So Yak says good-bye to his family and goes down the mountain. He goes down and down. But he can see only big mountains around him.

Suddenly Yak stops next to a little mountain river. He is thirsty and very sad.

“ Why are you so sad?” asks the river.

“I don’t know where the sea is.”

“I know it very well. Come on, I will show you where the sea is!”

Now Yak and the river go to the sea together. The river gets bigger and bigger.

“I can see the sea! It is very big! It is wonderful! It is nicer here than in the cold mountains,” says Yak at last.

He sits on the sand and watches the sea. The happy children come up to him and give him ice cream. He loves it! Now Yak is the happiest yak in the world.

He lost his red shoes near the tomatoes. He had no shoes on! Now he could run on his four legs! Then he jumped out of his jacket. Now he had no clothes on and ran very fast.

Suddenly he saw the garden door. Closed! The rabbit went under it. How happy he was to be out of the garden!

Mr Grey was happy too. He had no rabbits in his garden. When he saw a blue jacket and shoes, he got happier:

“Now I have got some nice clothes! Two red shoes and a blue jacket.”

  • контроль уровня сформированности грамматических навыков по изученным темам:

— словообразование.

развивающий аспект:

  • развитие способности к самоконтролю, анализу и распределению внимания;

  • развитие способность самостоятельно выделять лексические единицы;

  • развитие грамматических навыков.

Задачи контрольной работы:

  • рассмотреть особенности формирования лексических навыков на уроке английского языка;

  • рассмотреть особенности формирования понимания текста;

  • рассмотреть особенности усвоения грамматических навыков.

Материалы контрольной работы составлены на основе тем, изученных в III четверти учебного года в соответствии с программными требованиями.

Формат теста. Контрольная работа по английскому языку для обучающихся 4 класса состоит из устной и письменной работы.

Тест состоит из двух разделов. 1 раздел – чтение, задание направлено на выявление навыков чтения текста с пониманием основного содержания, чтение про себя с пониманием прочитанного, умение определять истинность \ ложность утверждения в соответствии с содержанием текста. Выбор правильного ответа, подходящего по смыслу, из нескольких данных.

2 раздел – лексика и грамматика включает в себя 2 задания: 1 грамматическое задание (практическое применение изученного материала) умение преобразовывать одну часть речи в другую, выбор правильного ответа, из нескольких данных и умение выполнять задание с выбором лишнего слова из слов, представленных в строке.

Продолжительность теста – 40 минут.

Критерии оценивания. За каждый правильный ответ – 1 балл.

Максимальное количество баллов – 10.

18 – 16 баллов (100 – 90 %) – «5»;

15 – 13 баллов (89 – 70%) – «4»;

12– 10 баллов (69 – 50%) – «3»;

9 балла и меньше (меньше 50%) – «2».

Hello! My name is Nick. I am 10. I want to tell about professions my parents and relatives. Also I want to tell you about what I going to be. My father works in hospital. He helps sick people. I think that it is important work to help different people. He is a doctor. My mother works in a school. I love my mother because she teaches history to children. She is smart and helpful. She is a teacher. It is an interesting job. I have got a sister. Her name is Ashley. She is very clever and talented. Ashley is going to be an actress or a writer. My uncle is good at playing football. He is a sportsman. My aunt is tall and beautiful. She wears wonderful clothes. She is a model. I am going to be an actor. I am going to act in plays and films, too. That is great! And I am going to be famous and happy actor. If a job is worth doing it is worth doing well.

Warren is from New York, the USA. He’s got a big family: a mother, a father, two brothers and one sister. They all live in a big house. There’s a garden in front of the house with apple trees and flowers. There are 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a playroom and 3 bathrooms in their house.

Every morning all the children get up at 7 o’clock, take a shower, have breakfast, put on their uniform and go to school on do their homework.
